Green Woodpecker

The green woodpecker is a relatively rare bird, at least in urban settings. One rested on a branch in the garden this morning, before zipping off.

We have rather large red crested woodpeckers, though not so common in town. Astonishingly, they'll even eat the sunflower seed and millet mix provided for cardinals. As for the bluejays, they'll eat cat kibble, just as the opossums do.

Another lovely photograph. Your garden seems quite edenic.

btw - if you wanted to do that then please ignore me but you seem to have subscribed to the comment feed rather than the post feed at sbn.

Hi Kev,

it's the only way so far I have found of getting your most recent post listed. Still working on it.

Yes out here on the wild outskirts of Norwich it's just a few wing flaps to open fields, river and marsh.
